The charming village of Lawrence, originally established in 1856, is located at the junction of Sportmans Creek and the Clarence River offering fine fishing, canoeing and plentiful bird life. A walking track winds along the river bank from Memorial Park to the lookout on High Street. Memorial Park is equipped with BBQs, playgrounds, toilets and is a top spot for fishing and swimming.

Historical Lawrence is home to the old 2NR radio transmitter building in Merton Street which was converted into a museum, highlighting memorabilia from early Australian radio broadcasting. The Lawrence tavern is a local icon for country tucker.

The Lawrence 9-hole golf course is open 7 days a week. The free 24-hour vehicle ferry between Lawrence and Woodford Island
is a great way to experience the transport of a bygone era. Lawrence is a farming community with rich cane growing land.

With a population of 940, Lawrence combines environmental rural beauty with a community close to Broomshead and Yamba beaches.
